When I first sat down with Benny and Angela in Foggy Bottom, they just seemed so quietly in love. The little smiles, the hand holding, the joy, it was all there in this beautifully reserved way.
When their wedding day arrived, I was so excited by how rich in Washington DC history their wedding was. They both got ready at the recently renovated church turned hotel in Adams Morgan. The details, natural light and eclectic styled of the hotel made a truly unique place to spend the morning. The private balcony and light filled suite were perfect for all the photos of Angela and her girls getting ready.
As we made our way over to the ceremony location, we were welcomed by another historic sight: a beautiful history Catholic Church in the heart of Georgetown. With white columns, stain glass and wooden pews, this church carried a history to it that’s rare to come across. However, Benny and Angela couldn’t be outdone by the beauty of the church, they absolutely radiated as they said their vows.
The final stop on their wedding night was to their reception at Woodlawn Estate. This beautiful brick house was given by George Washington to his niece and nephew as their wedding gift. The gorgeous backdrop of the brick house made a beautiful sight for cocktail hour. At times, it felt as if we had been transported out of DC to an estate in the South of France!
The night was filled with laughter, tears and a lot of dancing as the Swing Shift band brought the party to the dance floor. Every detail and moment of this day was beautifully thought through. But my favorite part of this incredible wedding was the way Benny and Angela would sneak peeks at each other, their soft smiles shared and their sweet hand holding as newly pronounce husband and wife.
