"Virginia is for Lovers" couldn't me a more accurate statement for this engagement session. Taking place just outside of Charlottesville, Jenny and Chance were glowing as they celebrated their engagement and looked ahead to their wedding. This destination was so romantic and chic, with rolling hills covered in blueberry bushes, the "Love" sign decked out in succulents and a hidden willow tree where they snuck a few laughs. Jenny and Chance will say their vows next May at an overlook between two gorgeous trees before they dance the night away on the outdoor stone patio with their friends and family. They're not the only ones counting down the days until their wedding!

Wow, I don't even know where to start with this destination wedding. How do you sum up a wedding that was just SO AMAZING?! When David and I traveled to Chicago for Nikki and Matt's wedding, I know going to this destination would be emotional. Having grown up in Chicago and having attended high school with Nikki, this wedding had a special place in my heart to photograph.Read More

Abigail and Conor are our sweet neighbors, and recently celebrated their one year anniversary! There's something so special about that first year of marriage, you learn so much about each other as you fumble through sharing a space and a life with your person! Abigail and Conor looked so classic - their looks so gorgeous against the falls!
We took Conor and Abigail out to Great Falls for their elegant anniversary session. The easy hiking trails and epic views made for a gorgeous location for their photography session. It's the perfect destination for any occasion, an elopement, engagement, hike or adventure! There are so many locations on my list for destination weddings and elopements - Moab, Horseshoe Bend, Yosemite - but then I remember I have stunning locations right in my backyard.

Rain totally seems to be a theme here in Northern Virginia... Thankfully, Brittanie and Ben wanted a cozy engagement shoot. So we went over to Sylvanside Farm so they could snuggle up in the Hunt Box for an in home session. The results are clearly magical - so if rains for your engagement shoot or on your wedding day - don't worry! It will be as special and precious as you envisioned it.
If you've been in the DMV lately, or the North East at all, then you're SO familiar with this mixed weather we've been having. First it's 70s and sunny, next it's a nor'easter blizzard, back to 70s, ridiculous winds, then figgen COLD. I mean... I love it here, but this weather is getting out of hand.
But Lindsey and Peter just took it all in stride for their super cozy engagement session at Great Falls. It was cold, damp and kind of muddy, but these two totally crushed it! I love
There's nothing that causes me more anxiety than looking at the weather report on the day of a photo shoot and seeing RAIN. Oh my gosh, there was a 30% chance of rain the day of this precious shoot, but Heather and David decided to wait it out and hope for the best. And I'm so glad they did! Ten minutes before our shoot it was SLEETING, and all signs pointed to moving the shoot indoors. But, these two troopers decided we'd give it a go, and we hit the streets of Baltimore to capture their love. I'm so glad we did, I hope you love the results as much as I do.
I love elopements. I said it, but really. I find the intimate, tender moments of two people sharing their vows and commitments to be so precious. This elopement at the Baltimore City Courthouse embodied intimacy, fun and joy. Sara and Jacob are two of the sweetest souls I've gotten to work with. So when we met at the courthouse for the big day, even though it was just the three of us, it didn't take away of the grandness of marriage. These two value each other and the love they share. I'm so excited to share their wedding day with you. If you're planning an intimate wedding or elopement, all I can say is that your day is SO precious and whatever path you take to wed made special in its own way.

It's definitely engagement season here in Northern Virginia. This is possibly becoming my FAVORITE time of year, hands down. I love seeing that glow on a newly engaged couples' faces, and I also love seeing that carefully selected bling!
When I first connected with Tori and Brandon, I was super excited to work with them on their engagement shoot. While they lived in D.C. they still wanted to do something a little on the outdoorsy side. So I did some research (still a newby to the DMV over here) and found Rock Creek Park.
My husband and I love finding new parks, so when I researched Rock Creek Park in Washington D.C. it seemed to me the perfect location to do this shoot. Close to home for them, yet escapes from the hustle and bustle of the city.
A few minutes into our session, and behind us for our very first picture was...a deer! It was in that moment I realized Tori is a huge animal lover. So after we snapped some photos and tried to become friends with Bambi (who promptly ran away from us), we went on with our cozy shoot. Fall and Winter shoots are all about the cuddles and eskimo kisses. I think it's pretty clear in their photos that these two are in love, they're hilarious and perfect for each other.
Did you just get engaged? Share your story below, because I'm a sucker for those "I Said Yes" moments.
For those of you who aren't aware, I recently relocated from Oahu, Hawaii to Northern Virginia. Just a small life change, no big deal. Except for where's the ocean, the weather is freaking COLD, and I'm blessed by the beautiful seasons again. In all reality, my husband and I have been excited for and anticipating this move for a long time. We LOVED the adventures in Hawaii, they were once in a lifetime memories.
But come September, we flew to Wichita to visit the hubby's family (yes we flew our cats), loaded up our new to us Subaru Outback, and hit the road for a two day trip to Virginia. For those of you familiar with my furry friends, Larry was a backseat driver who hated rest stops and did NOT want to leave our hotel in Indianapolis. Chewy only came out for meal breaks, she was MIA for the rest of the drive.
There were a lot of nerves that came with this move. Will I like my new location for my job (yes I do!), will we find a solid church with a good community, will I continue this photography business or let it go. I was so fortunate to find Sara Hargrove of Sarandipity Photography (she's awesome, go check her out). Literally, after four days of living in Virginia, I got to go second shoot for this rockstar and totally rekindle why I love wedding photography. This opportunity really opened my eyes again to creativity, excitement and fun that comes with shooting weddings. So here's a little bit of how that day went.

Growth and photography go hand in hand. It's impossible for me to not grow at my job if I want to continue to excel! And personally, I crave growth and development. So when I got asked to do Zoe's senior session, it was a 1000000x yes response on my end! See, Zoe was my first senior, and she TOTALLY blew me away. Zoe is so composed, funny, STUNNING inside and out.
One thing that I loved about Zoe's session was her style and willingness to try so many different things. We did this shoot back when I was located on Oahu. From beautiful fields with craters in the background, to Sandy Beach and Eternity beach, this shoot took us all over the south side of the island. We finished the shoot off with a rouge wave that totally got me the best reaction ever from Zoe! What a champ! Here's to your senior year girl! So much lies before you.
